sprout summer lunches

SUMMER 2025: June 16 - August 22

Through our Sprout Summer Lunch Program, Hole Food Rescue aims to ensure all children in Teton County have access to a healthy lunch and a safe place to engage with their peers during the summer. 20% of children enrolled in Teton School District #1 are eligible to receive free or reduced lunch while in school. This equates to over 500 children needing food assistance in Teton County. This need exists even during the summer when school is not in session. The Sprout Mobile visits multiple neighborhoods around Jackson each week that are easily accessible for children; local parks close to their homes or densely populated housing complexes. Sprout Stands are also set up in the evening to offer convenience for working families. In 2024, Hole Food Rescue provided 10,680 lunches to children throughout Teton County, a 38% increase from 2023. In addition, local nonprofit partners provided enriching activities that encouraged creativity, learning, and engagement. Hole Food Rescue also partners with One22 and their Youth Enrichment Scholarship Program (YES) to provide Sprout lunches to children attending summer camp on financial scholarship.

Sprout Summer Lunch Program is for everyone: lunches are available to all families in Teton County, regardless of income, no questions asked.

Relying solely on rescued food does not supply Hole Food Rescue with the volume of fruits and vegetables that we aim to provide to children. For that reason, we purchase food, including local produce from Slow Food in the Tetons, in order to ensure nutritious meals and snacks for the youth in our community.
